TimeGuessr - Terms of Use (EULA)

By using TimeGuessr.com (the "Website") or the TimeGuessr mobile application (the "App"), you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms of use. If you do not agree to these terms, please refrain from using the Website or the App.

In order to access certain features of the Website or App, you may be required to create a user account. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to consent to the processing of personal data, to create an account; if you are below that age, you may only use the Services with the consent of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for all activities that occur under your account.

3. Use of Content

All content on the Website and App, including but not limited to text, images, and software, is the property of TimeGuessr.com and is protected by copyright laws. Users who submit content to the platform retain ownership of their content but grant TimeGuessr.com a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display such content on the Website, App, and in connection with TimeGuessr.com’s business operations.

By submitting content, you represent and warrant that you own it or have all rights, licences, and permissions necessary to submit it and to grant the licence above. You must not upload or submit any content that infringes the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any third party, or that you otherwise do not have the right to use. Users are solely responsible for the content they submit and must ensure that it does not violate any applicable laws or infringe on the rights of any third party. TimeGuessr.com reserves the right to remove or modify user-generated content at its discretion.

TimeGuessr displays historical photographs and other visual content for editorial and educational purposes. These images are presented in the context of a game designed to enhance historical and geographical knowledge, and are not used for commercial endorsements or advertising products or services.

All images used on the Website and App are either:

  • Licensed for editorial use from content providers or rights holders,
  • Sourced from the public domain or open-license archives (e.g. Creative Commons, U.S. federal archives), or
  • Submitted by users or contributors under terms that permit use.

The presence of advertisements on the Website and App does not alter the editorial nature of image use. No endorsement or association is implied between TimeGuessr and any individual, location, or entity depicted in the imagery used. If you believe an image has been used in error, please contact us at [email protected].

If you believe that any content on the Website or App, including user-submitted content, infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please email us at [email protected] with details of the content in question and the basis of your claim. We will review all such reports and, where appropriate, remove the content promptly.

TimeGuessr provides community features including community posts, direct messaging, and friend connections. By using these features, you agree to the following:

  • You will not post, send, or share content that is abusive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • You will not post, send, or share content that infringes the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • You will not use messaging or community features to spam, solicit, or distribute unsolicited content.
  • You will not impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity.
  • You are solely responsible for all content you post or send through community features.

TimeGuessr.com reserves the right to monitor, review, and remove any user-generated content, including community posts and messages, at its sole discretion and without prior notice. We may also suspend or terminate the accounts of users who violate these guidelines.

Friend connections and messaging are provided as-is. TimeGuessr.com is not responsible for the content of messages exchanged between users. If you experience harassment or abuse, you can report it directly within the app or by emailing [email protected].

Your use of the Website and App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Website or App, you consent to the terms of the Privacy Policy.

These Terms apply to both the Website and the TimeGuessr mobile application (“App”) available on iOS and Android. By downloading or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

The App may request certain permissions from your device (such as internet access or file storage) in order to function correctly. By granting these permissions, you consent to their use solely for the purpose of providing core functionality. You can manage permissions at any time through your device settings.

We may update the App or Website from time to time to add new features or fix issues. While we strive for continuous availability, TimeGuessr.com makes no guarantees regarding uptime or uninterrupted access to our services.

These Terms are between you and TimeGuessr.com. However, you acknowledge that Apple and Google may also impose their own terms through their app stores, which you must also comply with when downloading and using the App.

TimeGuessr offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, TimeGuessr Pro, which removes advertisements. It can be purchased on the Website or within the App. The following subscription options are available:

  • Monthly Subscription – billed monthly at the price displayed at the time of purchase.
  • Yearly Subscription – billed annually at the price displayed at the time of purchase.

Subscriptions purchased on the Website are processed securely by Stripe. TimeGuessr does not store your full payment details. Your chosen payment method will be charged at confirmation of purchase and again at the start of each billing period. Your subscription renews automatically at the price displayed when you subscribed until you cancel. You can cancel at any time using the "Manage subscription" option in your account settings on the Website. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you will keep access to your subscription benefits until then. No further payments are taken after cancellation.

Subscriptions purchased in the App are managed through RevenueCat and processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price. You can manage and cancel these subscriptions by going to your account settings on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store after purchase.

Prices may vary by region and are subject to change. All prices include applicable taxes where required.

For refund requests relating to Website purchases, please contact us at [email protected]. For purchases made in the App, please contact us or use Apple or Google's respective support channels. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

By purchasing a subscription you also agree to our Privacy Policy and these Terms of Use (EULA).

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Website or App at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to violations of these Terms or applicable law.

The Website and App are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. TimeGuessr.com does not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TimeGuessr.com shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use or inability to use the Website or App.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TimeGuessr.com from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your breach of these Terms, your use of the Website or App, or any content you submit, post, or share — including any claim that your content infringes the intellectual property or other rights of a third party. Nothing in this section affects any rights you may have that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

TimeGuessr.com reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the Website. Your continued use of the Website or App constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
